Designed for living: Integrating kitchen seating and dining
Kitchens are often described as the heart of the home and no longer just spaces for cooking; they have evolved into spaces where culinary experiences and socialising intertwine. These areas are often kitchen breakfast bars, a grand dining table, or cleverly integrated island seating. They enhance both the aesthetic and the liveability of the kitchen.
In recent times, seating and dining have become more integrated into modern kitchen design. This reflects a shift toward open plan kitchens and living spaces. From sleek, contemporary banquettes to sculptural dining chairs set around statement tables, today’s high-end kitchens embrace both comfort and function. Thoughtful material choices, bespoke finishes, and exquisite craftsmanship elevate these areas, ensuring that every gathering—casual or formal—feels effortlessly refined.

Where Style Meets Function: A Design Perspective on Kitchen Seating
Setting the Tone
Kitchen seating and dining areas need to embrace the style and kitchen design to help dictate the character of the kitchen. Materials play a crucial role—rich wood tones exude warmth, metal accents add modern refinement, and plush upholstery introduces an element of comfort and luxury. The interplay of textures, finishes, and forms ensures that the seating area is not just functional but acts as an extension of the kitchen’s overall design.
Customisation and Cohesion
Personalisation is at the heart of luxury kitchen design because your kitchen needs to fit your lifestyle. Custom-built bench tables, sculptural dining chairs, and breakfast bar stools can be tailored to any layout to for practicality. Upholstery in velvets, fine leathers, or textured weaves adds depth and individuality, transforming seating into a refined feature.
The kitchen seating and dining areas should harmonise effortlessly with surrounding elements—from kitchen worktops and cabinetry to lighting and flooring. A marble-topped island with brushed brass stools creates a seamless, high-end appeal, while a dark wood dining table paired with contemporary pendant lighting offers a striking contrast. Developed through matching materials, accentuating textures, or creating a deliberate juxtaposition.

Exploring Kitchen Seating & Dining Options
Breakfast Bars & stools: A Stylish and Functional Gathering Space
Breakfast bars are one of the most popular additions to a new kitchen. They offer a seamless blend of practicality, transforming kitchen islands into dynamic social hubs or a casual spot for enjoying a morning coffee. The choice of worktop materials—granite, quartz, or rich wood—can enhance the breakfast bar to complement the overall kitchen design, especially when integrated with lighting and carefully selected seating.
Completing the look is the selection of accompanying stools. Backless stools maintain a sleek, minimalist look, while high-back or upholstered stools provide the opportunity to add colour or a tactile finish. With options in hand-stitched leather, brushed metal, or elegant wood finishes, these seating elements complete the kitchen’s appeal.

Banquettes, Benches & Booths: Maximising Space
For those seeking a more intimate and inviting seating solution, built-in banquettes and kitchen bench tables offer comfort and style. Perfect for maximising space in a small kitchen, they create a refined dining area for family meals that blends seamlessly into the kitchen environment. Kitchen booth seating and banquettes can be tailored with custom upholstery in fabrics or fine leather, adding a tactile component to the kitchen.
Designed to integrate beautifully with dining tables, these seating solutions create a sense of continuity and warmth while saving space.
Dedicated Dining Areas: A Space for Gathering in Style
A dedicated dining space within the kitchen offers a distinct area for hosting and everyday dining. Dining tables can blend effortlessly into the kitchen’s layout. With options including an extension of a kitchen island or a sleek, multifunctional surface, these tables provide a fluid connection between cooking, dining, and entertaining. Materials such as a rich wooden table paired with upholstered chairs or a sleek glass-topped table with sculptural metal legs can create a visually striking dining space.

Inspiration: Envisioned
Every kitchen we design is unique, have a look over our recent projects that showcase the recent projects we’ve been working on:

The Crown Estate
We collaborated with an Anglo-American family situated on the prestigious Crown Estate in Oxshott. The Surrey neighbourhood maintains an air of tranquillity while offering unbeatable convenience. For this home the kitchen, in particular, served as the pièce de résistance, especially the large kitchen island with beautiful marble worktop with bevelled edges, complete with breakfast bar.

Artist in Residence
Situated on the beautiful Suffolk coast in a coveted corner of Southwold this architectural masterpiece by Maya Vuksa Architecture is an ode to creativity and a celebration. We wove together the couple’s artistic style with the architect’s vision to bring their particular alchemy into the details of everyday life and deliver an exceptional kitchen.
