Pure Gioia: design’s finest gather for an illuminating evening

It’s fitting that as the clocks have changed and the natural light fills our lives for more hours of the day, the great emulators of sunlight, Occhio, launched their latest innovation, Gioia.

An exclusive event in London’s Mayfair

Appropriately named for its ability to bring joy through every aspect of its use, leaders of the interior design world gathered at the Nicholas Anthony studio in Mayfair to celebrate the new luminaire as it comes to market.

An exclusive list of interior designers, architects, journalists and one very chic dog joined us from around the world for an evening of music, refinement, caviar and oysters in a private event to observe and experience the qualities of Occhio’s lighting design and engineering. 

A leading light in luxury living 

Occhio is famous for having produced a CRI (Colour Rendering Index) certification of 97%, which is to say their products emulate sunlight to an almost perfect degree.

Gioia is uniquely designed, retaining the brand’s signature light quality, but using form and function to add to the user experience. The freestanding lamp’s rotating arm allows it to move with a fluidity akin to dancing, enabling you to position it as you wish with seamless ease, whether you’re reading a book or seeking ambient light over dinner. Meanwhile, the halo lamp allows you to shine light both up, down and in segments, adjusting it not by touch but through mere gestures thanks to carefully positioned sensors for an extra touch of magic.

A night to remember 

Soft movements, agile, adaptable and impossibly elegant, Gioia is aptly named and is already a triumph. While the inanimate guest of honour was no doubt the focal point of the event, it’s suffice to say that the evening itself was also a fantastic meeting of minds and creative inspiration, so much so that by the end, the only way to move the party on was, indeed, to turn off the lights.
