Classic-contemporary for the win in Ascot

On one of the most prestigious parts of South Ascot in the Royal County of Berkshire, this contemporary home rose Phoenix-like from the plot of a former 1970s property, thanks to the vision of husband and wife team, Claire and James Lewis – directors at Ashbourne Developments.

Sharing a vision

Surrounded by tranquil gardens, the house now blends classic and contemporary style, designed for modern living but honouring the heritage of one of the prettiest parts of the UK. Claire says: “Its secluded position and large garden were very attractive and we could see the potential to build something much more suited to modern family living with generously sized rooms.”

In the creation of this home, the luxury specialists showcase their characteristic attention to detail and reverence for spaces that are designed for life. It’s this philosophy that drew them to work with our own designers at Nicholas Anthony, when it came to creating a kitchen that reflected and enhanced the rest of the six-bedroom, six-bathroom property

Customer comment

“The kitchen and dining areas are really the centre of family life, so I wanted to create somewhere with lovely views of the garden and an open, inviting feel.”

Reflecting nature

With natural light flooding through seamless doors that blur the line between inside and out, our team wanted the culinary space to draw on the carefully cultivated tranquillity of the newly landscaped garden. Oriented to take in the verdant plants and mature trees, the kitchen harnesses peaceful, tranquil hues and natural stone surfaces while Y Line handle-less furniture from the Nicholas Anthony Signature Collection creates a chic, contemporary finish.

Luxury and sophistication

Surfaces mirror the gently waving bamboo and the clouds floating by, channelling the eye towards the healing powers of nature. However, the space is still quietly confident in its own beauty and grandeur, thanks to its generous size, high ceilings and luxurious finishes. The sophisticated mix of materials, including a floating Carrara marble breakfast bar, warm walnut accents, a frost white quartz worktop, speak to the designer’s talent for sensuality. Meanwhile, the orientation of the space ensures that above all things, this is a space designed for living.

Claire says: “The kitchen and dining areas are really the centre of family life, so I wanted to create somewhere with lovely views of the garden and an open, inviting feel.”

TESTIMONIAL

"This is our third project with Adelise at Nicholas Anthony. She is wonderful to work with and has a great ability to interpret my ideas and introduce her own, so we work together very well."
